Renting
How far ahead should I call?
A few days ahead is sensible, more if the box needs a street permit. Ask about the drop-off dates the company has open.
Can I extend the rental?
Usually, at a daily rate. Call the company before the last included day.
Can I get a full box swapped for an empty one?
Most companies do swaps for an added haul charge. It's handy for big cleanouts.
Does the price include disposal?
Usually up to a weight allowance. See what affects the price.

Can I put a mattress in?
Many companies accept them with an added fee. Ask first.
What about paint cans?
Liquid paint is refused. Latex goes to an RVRA transfer station; oil-based to the monthly hazardous waste day. Full list.
How full can I fill it?
Level with the top of the walls. Heavy loads may have a lower fill line.
Placement and permits
Do I need a permit in Roanoke?

Have three answers handy: what's going in, which patch of driveway or curb it can occupy, and the day you'd like to start. The rental company comes back with a container size, an open drop-off day and a figure for the whole job. Nothing gets scheduled unless you say yes.

Phone conversations can be recorded for quality and billing (how referrals work, privacy). Trash carts, recycling and curbside bulk pickup belong to City of Roanoke Solid Waste, not this number.
